The Government of Canada provides $500,000 in funding for this tourism establishment in Saint-Gédéon in the Lac Saint-Jean region.
SAINT-GÉDÉON, QC, April 16, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Auberge des Îles is ideally located on the shores of the majestic Lac Saint-Jean in Saint-Gédéon. To enhance and diversify its services, the hotel complex will receive a $500,000 repayable contribution from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions. The funding will allow the Auberge to go ahead with a project to renovate its accommodation units and set up new infrastructure.
The funding was announced today by Richard Hébert, Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Jean and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion. With the help of this Government of Canada assistance, the Auberge des Îles (9292-1345 Québec inc.) will be able, not only to modernize its rooms and common areas, but also to add various facilities, including an indoor semi-Olympic pool, a water play area, a fitness room and an interactive gaming room.
The Auberge des Îles is one of the only resorts in the region to be located directly on the shores of Lac Saint‑Jean. The new administration plans to offer an enhanced product that better meets the needs and expectations of both domestic and international clients.
Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for both national and regional economic development. Federal funding for projects that aim to enhance the tourism experience is an effective means of supporting activities that generate significant economic benefits in the regions.
"I am always delighted to see the excitement that drives our beautiful region. When it comes to both tourism and economic development, local entrepreneurs are creative and bold. The Auberge des Îles project will help maintain tourist attractions and develop tourism in the Lac Saint-Jean region."
Richard Hébert, MP for Lac-Saint-Jean and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion
"The Government of Canada wholeheartedly supports projects that have a positive impact on tourism and the local economy. Through this support for the upgrading of the Auberge des Îles, the Government of Canada is reaffirming its commitment to promote tourism in the regions of Quebec."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"I am delighted with CED's support, which will help ensure that this ambitious Auberge des Îles revitalization project can go ahead. Our clients seek a unique experience and high-quality accommodations, and we will endeavour to meet expectations by renovating our facilities and adding service infrastructure. Rain or shine, the Auberge des Îles will be a "must" in the region going forward. We will be one of the most beautiful all‑season resorts in Quebec!"
Éric Larouche, President, Auberge des Îles
Today's announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for the Innovation, Science and Economic Development portfolio, which is made up of 17 federal departments and agencies, including CED and the other five regional development agencies.
