TORONTO, Nov. 11, 2016 /CNW/ - Primus applauds the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for its decision to approve advanced call-filtering technologies which protect consumers from annoying and illegal robocalls.

The CRTC's decision follows an extensive public consultation to examine technical solutions that empower Canadians to manage nuisance calls. In 2015, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved anti-telemarketing technologies for use in the United States. Primus demonstrated that it was the only telecommunications service provider to have successfully developed and deployed a patented, dynamic call-filtering technology to control mass telephone calls on its own network.
The growing issue of nuisance calls and Primus' innovative solution was recently profiled in the media by CBC and the Wall Street Journal. The solution was also highlighted by the U.S.-based Consumers Union, the policy and action division of Consumer Reports. Primus executives were also invited to advise the U.S. Congressional Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on strategies to stop fraudulent robocalls.
