Team Canada ranks THIRD in the world at the SIFE World Cup 2009

TORONTO , Oct. 7 /CNW/ - The Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team from Memorial University of Newfoundland, representing Canada , has ranked third in the world at the SIFE World Cup 2009 held in Berlin Germany . After three grueling rounds of competition involving national champion teams from 40 countries, Team Canada placed third with India in second place and Egypt being named SIFE World Cup Champion 2009.

"SIFE Memorial is truly a class act and a meaningful role model for all. We are extremely proud of them and all that they have accomplished - including a top four global finish for three years running," comments ACE President, Amy Harder .

SIFE Memorial was chosen to represent Canada after beating out 40 other student teams from every province of Canada . With 90 members, SIFE Memorial completed 12 projects during the 2008/09 year resulting in 1.73 million dollars reinvested, 37,614 volunteer hours and 5,448 people impacted.

    -   Senior citizens who now understand the importance of vital financial
        literacy tools.
    -   Medically discharged Canadian Forces members who now have the skills
        needed to become entrepreneurs.
    -   First Nation Community members who now have the skills needed to keep
        their community center open.

        recycling and the environment.
