Supporting youth economic Opportunities In Ontario

Ontario Trillium Foundation Future Fund focuses on innovation and opportunities for youth

TORONTO, June 13, 2012 /CNW/ -

The Ontario Trillium Foundation celebrates 23 recipients of the Future Fund grants program.

Funding is provided through the Future Fund to support projects that will create opportunities for Ontario's youth to explore and pursue meaningful economic opportunities. This investment helps not-for-profit organizations in communities across the province develop non-traditional and innovative approaches to entrepreneurial skills development and career planning as well as connect young people with employers who welcome youth culture.

The Foundation's investment will improve youth's access to the workforce and help to build strong communities.

"Future Fund grants are an investment in one of our strongest assets - Ontario's young people. These innovative projects provide young people with entrepreneurial skills development, mentoring, and real-life training as they generate promising business or social enterprise ideas.  Supporting the passions and talents of Ontario's youth through meaningful economic opportunities will help Ontario build strong and prosperous communities."
- Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport

"With three decades of grant-making and a long history of community-building, the Ontario Trillium Foundation has the experience and the vision to create transformational change in addressing local community needs. By trying different methods, investing in skills partnerships, and accommodating how youth choose and navigate their career paths, these Future Fund projects offer alternatives to traditional approaches of engagement and learning."
- Janet Passmore, Acting Chair, Ontario Trillium Foundation
