VANCOUVER, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Let's keep B.C. kids off the sidelines! Triple O's sixth annual KidSport Day fundraiser will provide financial support to young British Columbians who might not otherwise have the opportunity to play organized sports.
On Friday, October 23, Triple O's will donate a loonie from the sale of every combo to KidSport BC. Funds raised on KidSport Day will support local KidSport chapters across the province, so support stays in local communities. Guests can also contribute at one of 34 Triple O's locations throughout the province from October 5 – 23.
KidSport Day helps put British Columbia's financially underprivileged kids into organized sports such as hockey, baseball, gymnastics, lacrosse and soccer. The campaign at Triple O's has raised $140,000 since it kicked off in 2010. This year, Triple O's is shooting for a fundraising goal of $50,000.
"Triple O's and its guests have an unbeatable track record of teaming up to help kids play team sports," said White Spot and Triple O's President Warren Erhart. "This year we're setting our goal even higher. By enjoying a burger combo at a participating Triple O's on October 23, you'll be doing your part to help local kids play."
For approximately every $400 raised, one child in a B.C. community gets a chance to play sports for a full year.
"We are thrilled that Triple O's continues to support KidSport through the annual KidSport Day fundraiser across the province," says Pete Quevillon, Director of KidSport BC. "We believe every child should have the opportunity to play sport, and Triple O's shares that belief. The commitment to giving back makes Triple O's a wonderful partner for our community chapters. On October 23, I encourage everyone to head to their neighbourhood Triple O's and enjoy a post-game meal, and support local kids in the process."
KidSport has provided financial assistance to half a million young amateur athletes since its inception in 1993.
"Every year, Triple O's contributions to KidSport gives local kids the opportunity to develop self-confidence through sport," says Team KidSport athlete Liz Gleadle. "Participation in organized sport translates to success in many other parts of life!"
