SheSource.com takes an innovative approach to supporting women entrepreneurs to bridge the gap
GORMLEY, ON, Nov. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - When it comes to starting and growing a business in Canada, SheSource.com® has found strong indicators that women and men do things differently.
In a multi-year project funded by Status of Women Canada, we investigated the challenges, gaps and opportunities affecting business women in York Region and Simcoe County, Ontario as we sought to understand how we could use technology to fill those gaps and strengthen supports for women led-businesses.
We interviewed women, service providers and also used data science to analyze a library of business articles viewed over 1.5 million times to look for difference in the way that men and women approach starting and growing a company.
SheSource will be releasing key findings from our project at an event this evening, November 23, 2017 at 7pm in Whitchurch-Stouffville, to which media are invited to attend.
We will also share the story of the creation of our business resource web portal, which is inclusive to all genders, but is designed around the needs of women entrepreneurs.
"SheSource.com is a game-changing website led by women, for women, to address the unique challenges women face when starting and growing a business," says Julie King, co-founder of SheSource®, CanadaOne® and bizZone Inc.
Supporting women entrepreneurs is not just good for the individual businesses, it is good for Canada. One analysis found that $2 billion per year could be added to the Canadian economy through a 20 per cent increase in total revenues among majority female-owned enterprises.
Yet women still face a unique set of challenges around identity, confidence, funding and in growing their businesses overall.
"It is time to find new ways to educate, to lead and in doing so open new conversations and redefine entrepreneurship as it relates to women-led companies using female archetypes," says King.
About the Company: SheSource® is a game-changing web platform led by women, for women, that is uniquely crafted to help women entrepreneurs succeed in business.
