TORONTO, May 23, 2017 /CNW/ - Street Capital Group Inc. ("Street Capital" or the "Company") (TSX: SCB), today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Street Capital Bank of Canada ("Street Capital Bank"), has launched the Street Solutions Program, its new mortgage program targeting the uninsured segment of the mortgage market. Street Capital Bank is now offering this program through a small group of mortgage brokers in Ontario and will progressively expand to additional approved mortgage brokers across Canada.
"The launch of the Street Solutions Program is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to be a customer-centric financial institution and represents a meaningful long-term growth opportunity for Street Capital Bank," said Ed Gettings, Chief Executive Officer of Street Capital Group Inc. "The uninsured segment has become a significant portion of the Canadian mortgage landscape, as successive regulatory changes over the past several years have pushed a growing number of good quality customers out of the prime insured space. As a Schedule I bank, we plan to judiciously add to our product suite in the coming years to better meet the needs of our valued customers and trusted mortgage broker partners. Our focus on credit quality, along with a stable and conservative funding approach, ensures that we are well-positioned to drive substantial value for our shareholders over time."
The Street Solutions Program is funded through fixed-term Guaranteed Investment Certificate ("GIC") products that are duration matched with the underlying mortgage loans. GICs are distributed through registered deposit dealers. In the coming years, Street Capital Bank will focus its energy and capital on continuing to build its banking platform and plans to introduce additional retail banking products starting with the bank's credit card offering in 2018.
