Episode 13 Recap
The home cooks are told that their challenge will revolve around family-style dishes, and better still, they'll be cooking for their actual families! The emotional reunion sees the Top 5 home cooks reunited with their partners, parents, and children. As the winner of the last Pressure Test, Marida gets the choice of one or two partners for the challenge, and picks Tammara to join her. The duo comes out on top, leaving Eric, Kaila, and Mike to the Pressure Test - a 60-minute challenge to prepare a perfect, medium-rare Steak Frites and Béarnaise Sauce. Kaila wins, and Mike, with an undercooked blue steak, is sent home.
Viewers can also catch Mike live on CANADA AM and CP24 BREAKFAST on Tuesday, April 15 as he dishes on his elimination from MASTERCHEF CANADA. Mike will also perform a live cooking demonstration on the MASTERCHEF CANADA 'Redemption Round', this morning on THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW on CTV.
Coming up on the all-new penultimate episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA (Monday, April 21), it's the most challenging Mystery Box of the season when the four finalists face the tough love of American MASTERCHEF judge Joe Bastianich, and create a dish using his favourite Italian ingredients. The winning home cook gets a strategic advantage in the Elimination Challenge that determines who will go through to the MASTERCHEF CANADA finale.
The final Top 4 home cooks vying for $100,000 and the first-ever Canadian MasterChef title are:
- Eric Chong, Oakville, Ont.
- Kaila Klassen, born in Penticton, B.C., currently resides in West Kelowna, B.C.
- Marida Mohammed, born in Sudbury, Ont., currently resides in Toronto, Ont.
