Statement on the Mental Health Commission "National Guidelines for a Comprehensive Service System to Support Family Caregivers of Adults with Mental Health Problems and Illnesses" Français
OTTAWA, June 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association commends the new Mental Health Commission of Canada on their release of new guidelines for supporting family caregivers of adults with mental health problems. These guidelines are a significant step forward in recognizing and supporting the major contributions of family caregivers in terms of the unpaid care and support they provide. The unpaid - and all too often unrecognized - work of family caregivers is also a key component of our health care system. The CMA supports the recommendations contained in this report and calls for strategic action that recognizes and supports collaborative action by patients, families, health care professionals and policymakers.
