Statement from Patrick Brown M.P., PC Party of Ontario Leadership Candidate

Brown thanks Vic Fedeli for running a hard fought campaign; remains committed to ensuring the North is no longer excluded from the Party

BRAMPTON, ON, Feb. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Patrick Brown today thanked Vic Fedeli for running a hard fought campaign for the leadership of the PC Party of Ontario.

"Vic ran a good campaign," said Patrick. "He's an intelligent, successful guy and a good MPP who understands the issues facing Northern Ontarians like few others in this campaign.  I look forward to working with him in caucus, when I'm Leader."

Brown, who has made seven trips through the North so far during this campaign, meeting with people and leaders across Northern Ontario, noted Fedeli is well respected in the region.

Yet, many Northerners still feel excluded from the decision making process within the PC Party of Ontario.  "I've talked to members and former members across Northern Ontario and around the province.  I've heard their frustration with the same old, same old establishment that's been running things for the past decade.  They want something better.  They want a fresh, new Party that values their membership and reflects the interests and concerns of members and Ontarians across the province, including those in the North.  They want a Party that can win an election."

"I am committed to bringing Northern voices back into the Party.  We will not win government by falling back on the same old Party establishment that has excluded them for a decade.  We need to grow our Party to 100,000 members from every corner and every walk of life in Ontario – that includes every community in the North. Your voices are important to our province, you should be important to our Party."

"They want a Party that consults with and listens to its members – not a Party whose leaders arbitrarily proposed to cut 100,000 jobs."

As Leader of the PC Party, Patrick is committed to ensuring that Northern Ontario voices are heard and have equal representation at the table. Ontario can no longer overlook the North and its industries that contribute to the success of the province.
