STATEMENT - Canadian doctors urge parliamentarians to move quickly to pass health care solutions on the table
FrançaisOTTAWA, ON, Sept. 10, 2026 /CNW/ -- As parliamentarians begin to gather for the start of the fall session, doctors are calling on them to prioritize health care solutions to build Canada strong.
It's time to act. Every day that health care solutions sit unpassed in Parliament is another day that Canadians are exposed to unnecessary harm.
Our children's mental health, privacy and personal safety online are under attack. That's why MPs must quickly pass Bill C-34, the Safe Social Media Act. Our doctors see the impact in their clinics every day. Our kids can't wait.
Canadian patients are at risk because their health data can't easily be shared between clinics and specialists across the country. Parliamentarians need get Bill S-5, the Connected Care for Canadians Act across the finish line. We know this will save lives.
We must continue to stand on guard for Canadian health care. Politicians at every level must ensure that equitable, quality care is available to everyone and not just the patients who can afford to pay. Every day, doctors see what happens when patients face barriers to treatment. Adding additional financial barriers to care is unCanadian.
Canada strong starts with healthy Canadians. We know what the answers are. Let's get to work.
