Statement - New Brunswick climate plan

OTTAWA, Dec. 7, 2016 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Government of Canada, Environment and Climate Change Minister, Catherine McKenna, issued the following statement welcoming the release of New Brunswick's climate-change plan.

"Today, New Brunswick released a comprehensive climate-change plan that commits them to taking bold action to reduce their emissions. This plan will allow New Brunswick to foster innovation, create opportunities and good jobs, and further contribute to the clean-growth economy.

"The Government of Canada looks forward to working with New Brunswick on climate action and supporting clean-growth projects to achieve the goals of their climate-change plan, such as accelerating the phase out of coal power.

"New Brunswick has shown tremendous leadership in consulting citizens as they developed their plan, and in engaging with other provinces in the region. It is only by working together that we will create a better future for generations to come."
