QUEBEC CITY, Oct. 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec City and Charlevoix tourist regions in the province of Quebec will be arriving in force at the Toronto Snow Show 2014 with a major alliance in the world of snow sports called St. Lawrence Summits, a multi-resort ticket allowing skiers to move freely between the Massif de Charlevoix, Mont-Sainte-Anne and Stoneham Mountain Resort, when they buy their tickets through a participating hotel in the region.
The offer is simple! Starting this winter, the multi-peak ticket will enable skiers from Quebec, Ontario, the Northeastern United States and anywhere else in the world to switch from one resort to another as they please. With a single ticket, purchased through a participating hotel in the Quebec City, Stoneham or Charlevoix region, skiers are free to wait until the morning itself to decide whether they'll spend the day at the Massif de Charlevoix, Mont-Sainte-Anne or Stoneham Mountain Resort.
The St. Lawrence Summits solution will appeal to both winter sports enthusiasts who hit the slopes every winter, adventurers fuelled by new discoveries and worldly customers looking for comfort, quality and the best snow conditions.
A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE!
"It isn't just the union of two fabulous tourist areas that together form a ski destination that is unique in North America and located close to a UNESCO world heritage city, it's also a commercial networking between competing businesses, both ski resorts and hotels, who have teamed up for this stimulating economic project," points out Office du tourisme de Québec director Mr. André Roy.
"This new product will allow us to better position ourselves in a context where North American competition in the skiing sector is fierce. We can now offer a truly world-class multi-activity winter destination, where skiing is the flagship product," adds Mr. Daniel Guay, owner of Hébergement Charlevoix and member of the Tourisme Charlevoix board of directors.
In the ski resort owners' view, the idea of joining forces is truly inspirational. "Our primary objective is to give skiers more flexibility to help boost tourist traffic in our regions. We're convinced that all partners will benefit from the project," asserts Mr. Daniel Rochon, General Manager and Vice President of both Mont-Sainte-Anne and Stoneham Mountain Resort.
"The team at Massif de Charlevoix is delighted with this association, which bears witness to the willingness of the partners to work together to provide a comprehensive and unique ski destination while helping to promote both the Charlevoix and Quebec City regions. Our resorts offer visitors exceptional ski conditions and breathtaking landscapes, making St. Lawrence Summits a true must," says Mr. Frederic Sujobert, Mountain General Manager at Massif de Charlevoix.
PROFITABLE OPTIONS
The St. Lawrence Summits offer is expected to provide an average discount of 30%, both on accommodation and lift tickets. Skiers using the multi-peak ticket will be able to take advantage of five different options all season long.
For example:
No effort has been spared to enhance the overall experience. Skiers using this new purchasing option will benefit from quick and easy access to the slopes thanks to web-based technology enabling them to avoid ticket office line-ups at all three resorts. Skiers simply head to the ticket window bearing the St. Lawrence Summits logo on the morning itself to pick up their lift ticket and will therefore by able to arrive more quickly on the slopes.
"With St. Lawrence Summits, to be competitive, we needed to embrace the global trend based on the idea of a multi-activity experience sought by the clientele. It is founded on the advanced technological approach that comes with our offer," asserts Mr. Benoît Renaud, president of Oasis Communication Marketing, an agency specializing in tourism, skiing and strategic alliances currently in charge of developing the St. Lawrence Summits strategy.
It should also be noted that the SKI BUS will provide a morning and evening shuttle service seven days a week between hotels in Quebec and Sainte-Foy and the Massif de Charlevoix and Mont-Sainte-Anne, from 20 December 2014 to 29 March 2015.
ABOUT ST. LAWRENCE SUMMITS
The St. Lawrence Summits initiative naturally brings together major partners from the Charlevoix and Quebec City regions seeking a development model based on the multifaceted experience. A joint initial investment of around $600,000 will go towards carrying out a major promotional campaign and promoting the product through the advertising leverage of partners such as the Office de tourisme de Québec, Tourisme Charlevoix, affiliated Quebec ATRs and Tourisme Québec. The campaign conducted by Oasis Communication Marketing will feature numerous advertisements in Quebec, Ontario and the United States and will be promoted during the Toronto Snow Show 2014 taking place from October 16 to 19, as well as at the Boston and Ottawa shows, providing unique opportunities to showcase Quebec.
