TORONTO, March 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Sprott Asset Management LP ("Sprott") today announced that Charles Oliver has assumed lead portfolio management responsibility for Sprott Gold & Precious Minerals Fund/Class and Sprott All Cap Fund. Co-manager Jamie Horvat has decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities. Sprott thanks Mr. Horvat for his contributions and wishes him success in all his future endeavours.
Mr. Oliver will continue to leverage the collective expertise of Sprott's team of precious metals experts, including Eric Sprott, Paul Wong, Rick Rule, and geologists Andy Jackson and Neil Adshead. Charles Oliver has co-managed the Sprott Gold & Precious Minerals Fund since joining Sprott in January 2008. Previously, Mr. Oliver was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at AGF Management Limited, where he led the team that was awarded the Canadian Investment Awards Best Precious Metals Fund in 2004, 2006, 2007. Mr. Oliver combines a big picture approach and a bottom-up process, focusing on companies with strong management teams, sound business strategies, strong growth prospects and reasonable valuations. He obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Western Ontario in 1987 and obtained his CFA designation in 1998.
John Wilson, who recently assumed the lead portfolio manager position from Jamie Horvat on the Sprott Opportunities Funds, will continue in this role.
