CALGARY, May 27, 2016 /CNW/ - On June 11, 2016 The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation will host its second annual TONI'S RIDE 2016 to raise much-needed funds in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary's Script Outreach Program. Script is a program for youths ages 12-24 that offers case management, system navigation, coaching and/or crisis support in the areas of basic needs and housing, connecting to schooling and/or employment and life skill development to leave street life behind.
Toni's Ride 2016 will be hosted at multiple spin studios throughout Calgary. The following studios have rallied together to champion the end of homelessness: Heaven's Fitness, HotShop Spin, Peloton Cycling, Soul Spin Studio, Spoke (N) Spin, The Sweat Lab, Union Fitness and YYC Cycle.
As the need now is greater than ever, The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation has set an ambitious goal to raise more than $30,000 to support The SCRIPTS Program.
The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation is working towards opening their first Toni Kohn House in Calgary which will provide young women with a safe, supportive home environment where they can begin to heal, increase their level of education, and develop life skills and a support system that will transition them into adult self-sufficiency. In the meantime, as work on the House continues, we feel that it is important to give back to our community and we have identified community partners whose vision, mission and values align with ours. To that, we are so pleased to announce our collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary.
Partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary's Script Outreach Program aligns with our organization's mission, as the Script team works with and supports youths, to empower them to discover their strengths, build their own healthy communities of support, and connect them to resources and activities that are life affirming.
"We are honored and thrilled to be a part of Toni's Ride, an event that will bring our community together as one to fight against youth homelessness. Support for our Script program provides youth immediate access to much needed supports and hope for a better future."
-Cheryl Doherty, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary
