Sodexo named Top Diversity Employer Four Years in a Row

BURLINGTON, ON, March 29, 2017 /CNW/ - For the fourth consecutive year, Sodexo Canada has been recognized as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp. The company's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace is a critical part of its business strategy and translates into stronger business performance and improved employee engagement.

Sodexo is one of the most diverse companies in the world. In Canada, over 65% of its employees are women, 32% are a visible minority and Sodexo's hiring of Indigenous people and people with disabilities is on the rise.

As part of the award process, Mediacorp examined the company's employee network groups, community partnerships and various training and development programs for women, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/trans identity (LGBT) peoples and discovered a forward-thinking culture.

"Our company and its people reflect the communities in which we live and work," says Barry Telford, CEO of Sodexo Canada. "We have a responsibility to develop a diverse workforce culture so we can best serve the interests of our clients, customers and partners. This award recognizes the work we do every day and is reason to celebrate our journey so far."

Sodexo Canada's commitment to Diversity and Inclusion provides a competitive advantage that positions it as an employer and business partner of choice. The company's employees have several opportunities to actively support a diverse and inclusive work culture by participating in six Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs). These groups provide employees with a forum to share ideas, gain support and develop professionally. EBRGs include: ADEPT (All Employees with Disabilities Possess Talent), NAAC (Native American and Aboriginal Council), SAGE (Sharing Across Generations), PRIDE ,WiLL (Women in Leadership & Learning), and Cultural Diversity.
