Three-day ski event brings authentic BC Ski Experience to Ontario and chance to meet 2010 Olympic Gold Medallist Ashleigh McIvor
TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - A few lucky Torontonians arrived at work this morning to find a virtual BC ski slope had arrived in downtown Toronto, courtesy of Tourism British Columbia.
Snow was falling on participants at The SKI BC Challenge, a head-to-head virtual ski race, that mixes snow, wind, and the smell of the outdoors with the opportunity to win a free ski lift pass to any one of BC's 13 ski resorts. The SKI BC Challenge is a fully interactive ski experience, surrounded by trees, snow and ski gates, giving participants a preview of what they might experience if they were to visit British Columbia this winter. During the three-day event, 300 free ski lift tickets are up for grabs, and the fastest skier each day will also receive a SKI BC Prize Pack valued at over $800. Participants will also get a chance to meet 2010 Olympic Gold Medallist, Ashleigh McIvor who is signing autographs and accepting challengers to compete against her in the virtual ski race.
The Ski BC Challenge is part of the 'Ski It to Believe It' Campaign encouraging travellers to experience what BC has to offer this winter. With 13 world-class resorts, British Columbia has the most diverse terrain, the best snow conditions, and fabulous ski in/ski out resorts making it one of the top ski destinations anywhere.
