The new 207 000 square foot hospital will feature 8 floors, 2 below ground and 6 above. Our patients and families will benefit from 22 single patient rooms, meeting all the highest standards for infection control. We have planned for several areas dedicated to families. There will be 4 operating rooms, which is double from our current facility. The new hospital will also include state of the art technology for teaching as well as expanded space dedicated to basic and clinical research.
These new facilities will allow our specialists to diagnose and treat even more children with complex orthopaedic conditions coming to us from communities across Canada. We will be able to expand our research laboratories and enhance our clinical care activities in order to develop further tailored treatments. The new hospital environment will be focused on families with the additional family rooms on each level, increased space allotted to rehabilitation and ambulatory care services, day treatment and day surgery centers.
