Smartcool Develops New Distribution Channels to Deliver Energy Efficiency Products to Mexican Market

VANCOUVER, Oct. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V: SSC) is pleased to announce an expansion of its distribution presence in the strategically significant Mexican market as a result of new agreements with two regional partners.  Energy Solution Systems S. de R.L. de C.V. (ESS) Mexico and Lider Control y Automatización have both signed on as dealers of Smartcool's ECO3 product, which is being used to optimize the performance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems for their customers in Mexico.

"Mexico is a prime new region for Smartcool since it has all the characteristics that we have found to provide an ideal market space for our highly economical ECO3 product," explains Chris Lefaivre, VP of Operations at Smartcool and head of distribution in the Americas.  "A hot climate and high electrical rates create a strong demand for the ECO3, which saves energy and reduces the energy bills associated with running air conditioning systems typically found in most businesses.  Our additional compatibility with refrigeration systems opens up other opportunities, and both ESS and Lider are poised to achieve some major successes with both applications in the Mexican market."

ESS Mexico is an energy conservation technology solution integrator focusing its efforts on the supermarket, cold storage and retail market verticals.  This mirrors Smartcool's traditional target verticals, giving ESS Mexico the advantage of drawing on a wealth of experience Smartcool has won in these sectors with customers like Sainsbury's, Tesco and Olympic Fruit & Vegetable among others. To date ESS' primary applications for the ECO3 have been on the rooftop air conditioning systems of a major Mexican retailer with whom ESS has just started a national roll out.

Lider Control y Automatización is an engineering firm with 20 years of experience developing and implementing inter-disciplinary technology solutions for automation, control and IT. Lider's initial focus has been on optimizing the performance of cooling systems in restaurants, banks and select retailers.  These are also industries in which Smartcool has delivered strong energy saving results to customers like McDonald's, National Australia Bank and Westpac. Lider is currently engaged in several initial deployments with large national chains as a part of a capital budget approval process in advance of nationwide roll outs across Mexico.
