Slate Office REIT announces modifications to the Board of Trustees

TORONTO, April 14, 2015 /CNW/ - The Board of Trustees (the "Board") of Slate Office REIT ("Slate Office" or the "REIT") (TSX: SOT.UN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Al Mawani to the Board of Trustees, effective immediately.

Mr. Mawani has over 35 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rodenbury Investments Limited, a private commercial real estate owner-operator.  Al has also served as a Trustee of Boardwalk Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: BEI.UN) for the past 12 years.  Until 2013, Al was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Calloway Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: CWT.UN).  In addition, he spent 20 years at Oxford Properties Group including over 10 years as Chief Financial Officer between 1989 and 2000. Mr. Mawani is a chartered accountant, has a Master of Business Administration from University of Toronto and a Masters in Law from York University.

In addition to Mr. Mawani's appointment, the board modified the composition of the board committees by appointing the following individuals to chair positions:

Mr. Brady Welch – Chair of the Board
Mr. John O'Bryan – Chair of the Investment Committee
Mr. Al Mawani – Chair of the Audit Committee
Ms. Pam Spackman – Lead Independent Trustee

The Board of Trustees intends to appoint an additional Board member at the 2015 Annual General Meeting of Unitholders to be held on May 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. EST at the offices of McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Suite 5300, TD Bank Tower, PO Box 48, 66 Wellington St W, Toronto, ON, M5K 1E6.
