This year's publication helps investors lay the foundation for solid investing plans
TORONTO, Dec. 10 /CNW/ - The Canadian Investment Awards (CIA), Canada's premier awards program recognizing excellence in the financial services industry, is proud to announce that the sixth annual edition of Canadian Investment Guide, copublished by Investment Executive and the CIA, is now available.
Canadian Investment Guide is a unique consumer magazine based on the extensive research and analysis compiled for the CIA Awards by committees of industry experts - coupled with insightful articles from Investment Executive's best writers.
"This year's issue of Canadian Investment Guide offers information that will help guide investors along the many paths in today's altered investing landscape," said Sabine Steinbrecher, President of Canadian Investment Awards Inc. "I'm confident it will help readers understand why those fundamental investing strategies that seemed to whither during the recession still represent the best way to build winning portfolios."
"There are great uncertainties in this recovery," said Tracy LeMay, editor of Canadian Investment Guide and Investment Executive. "But there are also tremendous positives. For example, investors will likely find lots of new, lucrative opportunities in Asia as economic power there continues to grow. And governments are promoting specific industries -- notably renewable energy -- and this may herald the growth of new industry sectors."
The 2010 edition of Canadian Investment Guide includes this year's top-performing investment funds as ranked by the CIA's panels of judges. It also includes a special section on individual award winners, as determined by CIA juries. To be considered for an award, funds and firms must meet stringent eligibility requirements. In coordination with Morningstar Canada, the judges -- some 50 senior analysts and industry professionals -- reviewed the absolute, relative and risk-adjusted returns of the investment funds in the various categories. They also weighed qualitative aspects such as management, availability and fees.
"We hope the Canadian Investment Guide becomes an educational tool for those navigating the post recession world," agreed Ms. Steinbrecher and Mr. LeMay. "The recovery promises to be bumpy, but if investors know where they're headed, that turbulence shouldn't push them off course."
