Shaw Media Applauds its Production Partners on this Year's Canadian Screen Awards Nominations
TORONTO, Jan. 19, 2016 /CNW/ - Shaw Media congratulates its production partners and Global's news and entertainment teams on their 2016 Canadian Screen Award nominations. As announced in a press conference this morning by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Shaw Media's solid portfolio of original programming garners Canadian Screen Award nominations across all genres including drama, lifestyle, entertainment, comedy, factual, news and digital.

Shaw Media's powerhouse conventional network Global celebrates 20 nominations including three nominations for its beloved Rookie Blue, with Missy Peregrym nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role and Ben Bass nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role. Reality fan favourite Big Brother Canada receives three nods including Best Reality / Competition Program, and sketch comedy The Second City Project takes home six nominations including Best Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series and Best Direction in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series.
Shaw Media's specialty channels capture a total of 27 nominations, with HISTORY's Vikings picking up six nominations, including Best International Drama and Best Direction in a Dramatic Series, while Ice Pilots NWT secures three nods including Best Factual Program or Series and Best Direction in a Documentary or Factual Series. Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada dominate the Best Lifestyle Program or Series category with three of the five nominations, including HGTV's Income Property and Buy It, Fix It, Sell It, and Food Network Canada's Carnival Eats. Shaw Media also congratulates Dino Hunt Canada Interactive for their Digital Media nomination for Best Cross-Platform Project – Non-Fiction.
