Schneider Sustainability Impact 2018-2020 has exceeded its target score of 5/10 for 2018, achieving 5.25/10 in the third quarter of the year
- Results for 12 of the 21 indicators making up the new Schneider Sustainability Impact 2018-2020 are above the annual target
- The average score of the ISO26000 assessment for our strategic suppliers is up 1.5 points from 2017
- Schneider Electric is pressing ahead with its long-term goals and joining Global Compact LEAD
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 31, 2018 /CNW/ - For the fourth year, Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, announces its financial and non-financial results together for the third quarter of 2018. Each quarter, Schneider Electric publishes 21 indicators from the Schneider Sustainability Impact, measuring progress towards its ambitious sustainability commitments for 2018 to 2020, in line with the COP 21 and United Nations objectives. With a total score of 5.25 out of 10 at end-October 2018, the Group has exceeded its Schneider Sustainability Impact target of 5 out of 10 for the end of 2018.
The non-financial results by indicator are as follows:

Also, our efforts and progress towards achieving gender equality, strong attractiveness factor for our new employees, has been rewarded by Equileap. They have ranked Schneider Electric 15th most exemplary firm for accelerating progress towards gender equality. In addition, Schneider Electric has joined the United Nations Global Compact LEAD, a global initiative gathering the most engaged companies committed to the United Nations Global Compact Ten Principles. Schneider Electric will be actively involved in the 'Decent Work in Global Supply Chains' and 'Pathways to Low-Carbon & Resilient Development' action platforms."
Quarter highlights
Climate:
- Progress was made in the "100 million metric tons CO2 saved on our customers' end thanks to our EcoStruxure offers" indicator, with 31 million metric tons now saved. Thanks to EcoStruxure, Schneider Electric helps customers all over the world reduce their emissions. This calculation method is designed with a view to becoming a shared standard, notably differentiating emissions saved in renovation markets and those saved in new markets.
Circular economy:
- The "100% cardboard and pallets for transport packing from recycled or certified sources" indicator reached 60%. The percentage of cardboard and pallets used by Schneider Electric from recycled or certified sources is steadily increasing, enhancing the Group's contribution to the circular economy. In the third quarter of 2018, 60% of the cardboard and pallets purchased came from recycled or certified sources, and Schneider Electric aims to continue along this path of rapid progress to further increase this percentage.
Health & Equity:
- The "100% of workers received 12 hours of learning in the year with 30% digital learning" indicator rose to 33%. Nearly 20 pilot or early-adopter factories and distribution centers started using this new learning method. Employees at these sites appreciated the new digital training platform, and are welcoming the opportunity to learn independently and prepare for a more digital future. The level of interest from other sites asking to launch their own digital training platform quickly is another good sign for the upcoming roll-out of the platform to all factories and distribution centers.
Ethics:
- The "5 pts/100 increase in average score of ISO26000 assessment for our strategic suppliers" indicator was up 1.5 points compared to 2017. In accordance with ISO26000, the Ecovadis rating of Schneider Electric's strategic suppliers is a key part of integrating the Group's sustainable development strategy into its supply chain. Through this strategy, the Group aims to constantly improve environmental, ethical, labor law and human rights conditions at all its strategic suppliers. The average score was up 1.5 points for the third quarter of 2018 compared with 2017, coming to 52.6/100, one of the highest Ecovadis ratings.
Development:
- The "x4 turnover of our Access to Energy program" indicator keeps progressing at x1.33. Business activity from the Access to Energy program was on the rise compared to 2017. The program is bringing electricity to communities worldwide thanks to local partnerships with micro-grid operators in countries such as India, Myanmar and Nigeria. At the same time, a number of industrial and commercial customers continued to equip their remote and off-grid sites with stand-alone power systems and solar street lighting. Lastly, new partnerships were signed in India, Nigeria and West Africa for the distribution of solar equipment for homes and micro-companies.
