MONTREAL, May 8, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The prestigious late-night hit Saturday Night Live is making its Québec début on Télé-Québec with two live 90-minute specials on Saturday February 8 and March 22, 2014. The two broadcasts will be hosted, respectively, by Louis-José Houde and Stéphane Rousseau.
A celebrity-studded cast of guests will appear alongside the two comedians as they each take a turn hosting an SNL special. Based on the famous SNL New York model and recorded before a live audience, SNL Québec will feature comedy vignettes, musical guests and a house band, a Weekend Update news bulletin, surprise cameo appearances and more. An ensemble cast of six comedians will complete the roster parodying current cultural and political events.
"We are very proud to be presenting this event programming", says Programming and Digital Media Director Dominique Chaloult. "SNL Québec will most assuredly rally Quebecers around a dynamic viewing experience."
Québec's École nationale de l'humour (National Comedy School), an indisputable talent pool, and its Director, Louise Richer, will contribute to the show known for its remarkable and brilliant comedy. The best of the up-and-coming comedy writers will work with seasoned television writers to create monologues, sketches, vignettes, etc. The show will feature original content and writers will also draw from scripts from SNL New York's 38-year run.
