Saskatoon wakes up with new radio morning show host Leisha Grebinski on Monday, April 29 on 94.1FM

SASKATOON, March 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Leisha Grebinski returns to Saskatchewan from northern B.C., where she has been co-hosting the region's radio morning show, CBC Radio One's Daybreak, after spending more than five years as an associate producer of CBC Radio One's The Morning Edition with Sheila Coles. She has produced stories and news for CBC Radio One's The Current, DNTO, Sounds Like Canada and C'est La Vie. Born and raised in Regina, Leisha is a graduate of the University of Regina's Journalism program.

"I'm thrilled to be returning home to Saskatchewan," says Leisha. "I'm really looking forward to being part of a new show that reflects day-to-day life in Saskatoon and connects with the community both on-air and online in a way that's never been done before."

Leisha will be joined by online host Matt Kruchak, who will engage with the morning show audience at cbc.ca/saskatoon, CBC's new local online news service. Matt joins CBC from the Regina Leader-Post, where he worked as the coordinator of interactive news and is also a graduate from the University of Regina's Journalism program. The rest of the team is comprised of producer Kim Garritty, who will return home to Saskatoon after producing CBC's morning radio show in Quebec City, Quebec AM, and the familiar voice of CBC's Dan Kerslake, who will provide listeners with the latest up-to-date local news. The name of the morning show will be announced a later date.

CBC Radio One's The Morning Edition will continue to be broadcast on 102.5FM in Regina and 540AM across the province.

Saskatoon's new service expansion is part of CBC's five-year strategic plan, "Everyone, Every Way" was launched in February 2011. The Plan's goal is to better connect more than six million Canadians over the next four years, in areas which have been identified as underserviced.
