TORONTO, July 10, 2018 /CNW/ - Santo A. Veltri, a senior Vaughan litigator, has been elected Chair of the Board of Governors of Villa Charities Inc. at its Board meeting on June 26, 2018. Villa Charities is a registered charity and non-profit organization that cultivates, promotes and celebrates Italian culture and heritage. Villa Charities has served the Greater Toronto Area's Italian community for almost 50 years by providing culturally sensitive long-term care and independent living apartments for seniors, as well as educational, cultural and athletic programs.
Mr. Veltri grew up in the Dufferin-Lawrence neighborhood, attending both St. Charles Catholic School and St. Charles Borromeo Church, and numerous Villa Charities functions as a teenager. He has been a volunteer at the organization for over 16 years, serving as a member of the Board of Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. (Villa Colombo Toronto) since 2002 and as Chair since 2016. He has also been a member of the Villa Charities' Board ex officio since 2015. Since his call in 1983, Mr. Veltri has practiced family law and litigation, and in 1993, was one of the founding partners of Bianchi Presta LLP, a full-service law firm in Vaughan.
"I am honoured to have been elected Chair of Villa Charities," said Mr. Veltri. "This campus, this organization and this community have been part of my life for a long time, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help it flourish. I am committed to finding a cooperative path that will best meet the needs of our community for current and future generations. I am especially committed to the care of our seniors, both in long-term care and assisted living, who remain the primary focus of our organization. I look forward to meeting the challenge presented by the Ministry of Health's mandate to upgrade long- term care beds, which will revitalize Villa Colombo Toronto."
Mr. Veltri succeeds Aldo Cundari, who served as Board Chair for three consecutive terms. Mr. Cundari served the Villa Charities community for over 20 years, first on the Villa Colombo Board of Governors from 1996 to 2007 and as a member of the Villa Charities' Board since 2000. "On behalf of all members of the Villa Charities community, I thank Aldo for the long and extraordinary service and leadership he has provided to our organization," Mr. Veltri remarked.
