RPNAO congratulates Angela Verrier as President-Elect of the College of Nurses of Ontario
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO) congratulates Angela Verrier on her appointment as President-Elect of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
When Ms. Verrier assumes her new post on June 4, 2014, it will mark the first time a registered practical nurse (RPN) has served as President of the CNO in the organization's 51-year history.
"On behalf of our staff and board of directors, we would like to congratulate Angela on her appointment to this key role with the CNO, which is the governing body for registered nurses (RNs), RPN and nurse practitioners (NPs) in the province," said Dianne Martin, Executive Director of RPNAO. "Nursing is one profession. And while the roles of the various categories of nurses are unique, they are of equal importance to the integrity and sustainability of Ontario's health care system. The CNO has underscored this reality with its historic selection of an RPN as its next leader and we would like to commend them on this appointment."
The CNO is the regulatory body for Ontario's 150,000 nurses. The College establishes the requirements for entry into practice, articulates and promotes practice standards and enforces standards of practice and conduct.
