Royal Agricultural Winter Fair heats up for local chefs
Road to The Royal Chef Competition headed to Markham Fair on October 4th
TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Three chefs from the Markham area are going head-to-head in a fast-paced culinary competition taking place at the Markham Fair on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to the Royal Chef Challenge is hosted by The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and challenges chefs in two 30-minute rounds – one round for an entrée and one for dessert. Each dish will include "secret ingredients" selected from locally grown or produced food products and provided to the chefs at the start of the event.
Award-winning chef Ted Reader will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the competition as chefs use fresh ingredients to create delicious dishes live on stage.
"The Markham Fair is the last stop on The Road to the Royal journey this year," says Paul Larmer, President of The Royal. "We have seen some very talented chefs throughout Ontario this year and we are excited to see what new dishes the chefs from Markham will cook up."
The Royal hosted culinary competitions at two other regional fairs and one festival this summer. The winners of these Ontario regional competitions will compete against each other in the semi-final round at The Royal in November.
Here's the lineup for The Royal Chef Challenge at the Markham Fair, beginning at 1 p.m.:
- Chef Deana Falco from Falco's Ristorante
- Chef Pedro Pereira from Fishbone Bistro
- Chef Isaac Co from the Smash Kitchen and Bar
The winner of the Markham Road to the Royal Challenge will advance to semi-final rounds to be held on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7 at The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. The top two regional finishers and a top Toronto chef will vie for the title of Royal Chef Challenge Champion during a final round at The Royal on Saturday, November 14.
The Road to The Royal Chef Challenge is partially funded by the Province of Ontario.
