This transaction confirms the status of the largest microbrewery in Quebec.
MONTREAL, April 23, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - RJ Brewers of Montreal, the largest microbrewery in Quebec, has now become the sole owner of McAuslan Brewing - also a Montreal company, of which RJ Brewers formerly held 46% of its shares.
The transaction, the value of which has not been disclosed, will not in any way change the way the two entities operate. What's more, they will both continue to function in an independent manner, and their respective beers will still maintain their unique brand identities. The facilities and employees of each organisation will continue to operate as before. This also applies to those involved in the brewing operations and product development.
"With this initiative, we reaffirm our leadership and our commitment to playing a major role in a highly competitive market", said M. Philippe Jaar, Vice President and CEO of Brasseurs RJ. He continued, "Our business is strong enough and well-managed enough to acquire another major microbrewery."
The CEO also went on further to explain that the tradition of quality and values associated with McAuslan products will remain intact. "Just like our beers, those of McAuslan are distinctive, innovative, of high quality and they represent a significant part of a growing niche, in which microbreweries currently hold a 6% market share. In essence, our respective products compliment each other extremely well. This gives us an even richer brand portfolio."
Both companies have been business partners since June 2008, when the owners of RJ Brewers acquired 46% of McAuslan. At that time, with efficiency as a top priority and the goal to be more competitive, the two companies united their sales and distribution operations both within and outside Quebec.
