TORONTO, June 4, 2018 /CNW/ - The wealth management community rallied together on May 31 as a host of winners were crowned at the 4th annual Wealth Professional Awards brought to you by Invesco Canada. Awards in 22 categories were handed out, highlighting a vast array of benchmark industry achievements from the past year.
Over 500 attendees flew in from all over the nation to witness the live announcement of winners, who were carefully selected by an expert judging panel following nominations from the readers of Wealth Professional (WP) magazine and online. The event was organized by publisher Key Media and hosted by TV personality Jessi Cruickshank. It was held in support of the Jays Care Foundation.
Among those taking home a trophy were Francis Sabourin of Richardson GMP (The iShares by BlackRock Award for Portfolio/Discretionary Manager of the Year), Horizons ETFs CEO Steve Hawkins (Wealthbar's PPI Valet CEO of the Year), HollisWealth's PWM Private Wealth Counsel (The First Trust Canada Award for Top Advisor Office – 10 Staff or More), and Mandeville Private Client Inc. (The Fundserv Award for Advisor Network/Brokerage of the Year two years in a row).
"This is a stupendous honour," said Frank Laferriere, COO of Mandeville Group of Companies. "There is nothing like being recognized by your peers and people in the industry who understand the day-to-day toils that we and our advisors go through. I'm very honoured and humbled to be part of this whole process and we really want to congratulate Wealth Professional because you need to take a moment to celebrate and even though the markets have been going good and even though things are going well, our industry is under tumultuous change."
Wealth Professional also honoured Richardson GMP's founding partner Rebecca Horwood as the first female recipient of the Invesco Canada Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Wealth Management Industry.
According to Jessica Duce, Project Director of the Wealth Professional Awards, "There couldn't be a better line-up of winners and finalists. We're proud to acknowledge the stellar achievements of those in the wealth management industry and give them the recognition they so richly deserve. We're already looking ahead to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Wealth Professional Awards in 2019 … and we can't wait to do it all over again!"
