Resource to Help UK Manufacturers Explore GBP5.6 Billion Remanufacturing Model With Dedicated Remanufacturing Hub
LONDON, Nov. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Resource (http://www.resource-event.com), the UK's major event for the circular economy, will launch a dedicated Remanufacturing Hub in 2015 (3rd to 5th March 2015, ExCeL London) to aid UK manufacturers keen to adopt this highly profitable, resource-efficient method of manufacturing.
Estimated to be worth GBP5.6 billion to Britain's economy if the model can be cracked, remanufacturing has been labeled as the unsung hero of the UK's move towards a resource efficient, circular economy. The subsets of UK manufacturers already adopting this process are achieving net material cost savings of up to 85 percent*.
Simply put, remanufacturing is the process of disassembling products, cleaning, repairing or replacing parts, then reassembling to sound working condition.
Delivered in partnership with the Centre for Reuse and Remanufacture (CRR) and Oakdene Hollins, Resource's Remanufacturing Hub will provide any manufacturer attending, whether already operating circular business models, just starting out, or simply curious to find out more, with expert advice, a showcase of the latest solutions and unrivalled networking opportunities.
Manufacturers attending the Remanufacturing Hub and Resource's wider content programme will leave with a deeper understanding of the value creation remanufacturing establishes by preserving the embedded labour, energy and material costs in finished products. A solid example of this is the mobile phone industry whereby 50 percent of material input costs could be saved by the effective use of remanufacturing.
Ed Lawson, Content Director for Resource said: "We are extremely excited to bring tailored support to manufacturers keen to realise the cost savings and resource efficiencies that the remanufacturing process can deliver. Of course, remanufacturing is not a panacea. Some industries and products lend themselves perfectly to remanufacturing, others do not, and there is no 'formula' that can be applied to dictate whether the environmental and profit opportunities add up. Resource is here to shake up current thinking and be the enabler for manufacturers looking to take this leap towards circularity."
