GUELPH, ON, Nov. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Reid's Heritage Homes has been named one of Canada's Best Small and Medium Employers. This prestigious honour was announced November 7th by PROFIT Magazine and Queen's University.
The companies who make the list are chosen on the basis of employee engagement; the company's employees participate in a survey by Queen's and Aon Hewitt, at no charge to the company. Employees are asked anonymously about their workplace and their work experience.
Doug Sider, Senior Vice-President of Team Development Resources and Corporate Culture at Reid's Heritage Homes leads the survey initiative. Sider said, "The Aon Hewitt Survey is a validation of our entire team's hard work and dedication to our core Values -- on our sites, within our communities and at head office."
Tim Blevins, President of Reid's Heritage Group of Companies, added, "We could not be prouder. There are literally thousands of small and medium sized companies in this country, and to be named as one of the top 50 employers is a humbling honour."
In the past year alone, Reid's Heritage Homes has been honoured with awards and accolades for quality of work, commitment to environmental sustainability, as well as team training and development; including the highly coveted Ontario Home Builder of the Year.
In Blevins' eyes, the recent designation is in many ways the most prestigious - as the "judges" are the company's most important critiques. "The Best Employer name has been given to our company based on the positive feedback from our own team members. They are our most valuable assets, and their engagement is of utmost importance to our team. A strong team means everything."
Companies named as the 50 Best Small and Medium Employers in Canada are identified each year by Queens, in partnership with Aon Hewitt, the global human resource consulting and outsourcing business of Aon Corporation. The full list of winners is available on line on the PROFIT Magazine website, and feature articles will be published in the February/March issue of PROFIT Magazine. The rankings are based primarily on employee engagement scores, and are entirely research-based.
Sider noted, "All employers want to attract and retain employees with skills and talents that will help to build the business. We believe our accomplishment, as acknowledged by being in the Top 50 Employers, can only help us strengthen both our company, and our relationships with our team members, even further."
Organizations included in the survey have been in business in Canada for at least three years, and have between 50 and 399 permanent, Canadian-based employees.
Blevins concluded, "At Reid's Heritage Homes, we have always been proud of our employees. Today, we are delighted to realize as well, how proud our team members are of their company."
