Registration Officially Opens for Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC), 12-14 August 2013, Denver

Joint venture between Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Exploration Geophysicists offers collaborative, one-of-a-kind event across multiple disciplines in the geoscience industry.

TULSA, Okla., April 2, 2013 /CNW/ - The Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Exploration Geophysicists announced today that registration is officially open for the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC), 12-14 Aug. 2013, in Denver. Attendees may register beginning today for the conference and housing online at www.urtec.org.

URTeC is the latest joint venture between the three most highly regarded professional associations in the geoscience industry, featuring a technical program covering 20 topics related to unconventional exploration and production, 340 technical presentations, six interactive panels, an exhibition floor, and numerous topical breakfasts and luncheons. Developed with direction from an industry advisory group led by representatives from Chesapeake, Devon, Anadarko, Shell, Statoil, ConocoPhillips, Schlumberger and many others, URTeC is designed for collaborative learning and networking between the essential components required to develop unconventional resources successfully—geology, geophysics and engineering.

"This is a landmark event that brings together a multi-disciplined audience to share critical information and the latest innovations and techniques in the world of unconventional exploration and production," said Luis Baez, technical program committee co-chair and BG Group executive. Scott W. Tinker, director of the Bureau of Economic Geology and the State Geologist of Texas, will moderate the opening plenary session entitled, Unconventional Resources: Breakthrough Integration Changes Everything. Tinker's presentation will explore the foundational scientific, technical and business practices that, when leveraged by innovative integration in a multi-disciplinary environment, "move the needle" across the value chain of conventional resource identification, assessment and monetization. Panelists will include Scott D. Sheffield, chief executive officer, Pioneer Natural Resources; John Richels, president and chief executive officer, Devon Energy Corporation; Vello Kuuskraa, president, Advanced Resources International; and William M. Scoggins, president, Colorado School of Mines.

Other presentations will take an in-depth look at the latest technologies transforming the future of exploration and production, government regulations, and much more.

The URTeC exhibition hall will include service- and equipment-related suppliers showcasing cutting-edge developments in applications like horizontal drilling, fracture technology, testing, logging and geophysics.
