Redknee Enables Sweden's Railway Network to Increase its Communications Efficiency and Reliability
TORONTO, March 26, 2014 /CNW/ - Redknee Solutions Inc. (TSX: RKN), a leading provider of business-critical billing and charging software and solutions for communications service providers (CSPs), is pleased to announce that it has launched the latest version of its Intelligent Network (IN) solution for GSM-Railway (GSM-R) networks at Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). Trafikverket (TrV) is the Government agency responsible for the long-term planning of the transport system and is also in charge of the state road network and national railway network. Redknee's GSM-R IN solution, which is an integral part of Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) end-to-end GSM-R solution, is enabling Railway Network Operators (RNOs) to deliver better operational support and increased reliability of the GSM-R network. Redknee's carrier-grade solutions are providing greater agility and scalability for railways, utilities, healthcare, cloud and over-the-top providers to quickly advance their growth strategies.
Trafikverket Sweden launched version 5.0 of Redknee's Railway@vantage solution, which provides TrV Sweden with a Next Generation Intelligent Network (ngIN) and delivers additional value-added services (VAS) capabilities. Railway@vantage is an off-the-shelf, productized solution that integrates simply into the network infrastructure, providing RNOs with enhanced operational safety, ease of use and the flexibility to deliver a high quality railway communications system. In addition, Railway@vantage offers smart operational features that far exceed the current standards, including the provision of continuous availability through Geographical Redundancy in the event of a disaster. The solution's active/active architecture duplicates most of the core network elements, therefore matching the traffic, with live traffic handled simultaneously by both geographically separated sites.
With Railway@vantage, Railway Network Operators (RNOs) are better equipped to perform maintenance without disrupting service and have assurance that they can deliver continuous operations. TrV Sweden is utilizing Railway@vantage to provide a fully redundant GSM-R network with an easy-to-adopt, cost-efficient and future-proof approach.
Dirk Lewandowski, Head of NSN Railway Solutions said:
"NSN and Redknee helped Trafikverket build a reliable Geo Redundant Intelligent Network solution as part of the GSM-R network in Sweden. Our strong relationship with the customer and Redknee were key to the successful collaboration during the implementation project. Most importantly, the new solution increases the availability, thus contributing to the enhanced reliability of train travel for passengers."
Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO at Redknee, commented:
"We are pleased to support Trafikverket Sweden with our latest Railway@vantage solution. The successful upgrade showcases the innovation that Redknee is driving across multiple verticals including railways, utilities, smart cities and telecommunications. Redknee will continue to invest in our portfolio in order to advance our position as the provider of choice of billing, charging, customer care and policy solutions around the world."
