ReadSpeaker Launches New Text-to-Speech Services
UPPSALA, Sweden, Oct. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - ReadSpeaker, a leader in text-to-speech services, announced today the launch of its Web Application Service Platform that enables customers to tap into new text-to-speech solutions. The first two services introduced today are ReadSpeaker speechCloud API to enable developers to add speech to apps and devices and ReadSpeaker TTS Producer to generate offline/online audio files from text.
With the increasing amount of Internet-connected devices, the need for audio interactivity is also on the rise. To meet that demand, ReadSpeaker speechCloud API enables customers to have their application/software send text and receive text-to-speech generated audio files to be played back on Internet-connected applications, software and devices.
Some of the features of ReadSpeaker speechCloud API include:
- Built-in customer specific dictionary where customers can control how certain words are read
- Multiple audio file formats (A-law, u-law, PCM, WAV, Ogg, MP3)
- Up to 40 languages and 100+ voices using state-of-the art speech synthesis
- Sample code in different programming languages: Java (Android), Objective C (iOS), PHP, ASP, Flash/ActionScript
- Statistics interface (both via web and API)
- Easy-to-use web interface
Developers can now use ReadSpeaker speechCloud API to create all sorts of talking apps and devices that are populating the Internet of Things, such as talking household appliances, interactive billboards, and medical devices, to name a few.
ReadSpeaker has also received growing demand for developing a cloud-based solution for generating audio files that can be used in an offline environment. ReadSpeaker TTS Producer lets customers generate audio files by converting text content into speech in three simple steps: enter or copy/paste the text, preview the audio file, and download it. It supports a wide range of languages and voices, and the audio files can be used both online and offline in web applications, mobile apps, presentations, prompts for IVR systems, audio books, reading guides/manuals, or e-learning materials. As with ReadSpeaker speechCloud API, ReadSpeaker TTS Producer has a built-in customer dictionary and a statistics interface to easily follow consumption levels.
"With the rapid rise in Internet-connected devices and the continuing growth of both web and mobile applications, more and more developers are demanding a publicly documented Web API for text to speech. Our speechCloud API enables us to meet this need and show how easy it is to speech-enable these devices and applications," says Niclas Bergström, ReadSpeaker founder and CEO. "With TTS Producer, we've taken our expertise in online text to speech and made it possible for anyone to easily produce audio files for both online and offline uses. We expect that more customers will see the benefits of adding text to speech for their users."
ReadSpeaker will continue to add innovative text-to-speech services to its Web Application Service Platform on an ongoing basis to satisfy the diverse needs of its rapidly growing customer base.
