OTTAWA, ON, Aug. 28, 2026 /CNW/ -- Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, spoke with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen.
Prime Minister Carney and Prime Minister Frederiksen discussed the close and growing partnership between Canada and Denmark, bolstered by shared values, strong transatlantic ties, and a shared commitment to security and prosperity.
The leaders discussed priorities in the Arctic, including enhancing defence and security, upholding stability in the region, and supporting Northern communities. They underlined the rapidly changing international security environment. They emphasised closely coordinating with allies and partners, diversifying trade and investment, and securing reliable supply chains across critical minerals, energy, and technology to build greater resilience.
Prime Minister Carney and Prime Minister Frederiksen underscored the robust defence relationship between Canada and Denmark, and opportunities to further deepen cooperation, including through NATO and defence industries.
The prime ministers agreed to remain in close contact.
