Worldwide donations and sponsorships of $104 million support positive social and environmental change
TORONTO, March 28, 2014 /CNW/ - How much green office space does your company occupy? Does it equal the size of 31 soccer fields? This publication, along with the annual Public Accountability Statement shows how RBC is fulfilling on key commitments to use our resources for social, environmental and economic good.
"In 2013, we contributed $104 million to causes worldwide through donations, sponsorships and community investments," says Jane Broderick, chief brand and communications officer, RBC. "The Corporate Responsibility Review shows where we are focusing our efforts and how our people and the work we do are having an impact around the globe."
Highlights from 2013 include:
Community:
- Contributed $69 million to causes worldwide, through donations and community investments.
- Supported community, arts, sports and other organizations with sponsorships of more than $35 million.
Environment:
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 16.7 per cent over 2012.
- Occupied green office space the size of 31 soccer fields.
- Saved more than 6,000 trees by using less office paper.
Economic impact:
- Spent more than $6 billion on goods and services.
- Provided $10.2 billion in employee compensation and benefits.
- Paid $3.1 billion in taxes.
- Managed $3.3 billion in socially responsible investments.
