The $45,000 bottle will be on sale at BC Liquor Store's Flagship Cambie Location
VANCOUVER, Jan. 7, 2016 /CNW/ - On January 12th, bottle number 68 of The Balvenie® 'Fifty' cask 4567 will be released for sale at the BC Liquor Store, Cambie Store location in Vancouver, British Columbia. Listed at CDN $45,000, the limited edition bottle is among the most complex, elegant and finest whiskies ever to be released from Warehouse 24, the home of The Balvenie®'s oldest and rarest whiskies. This year's release is one of only 131 bottles in the world and will be the only bottle made available in Canada.
"On the rare occasions that Scotch whisky is left in cask to mature for 50 years, there is no guarantee it will turn out to be a great single malt," said Elizabeth Havers, The Balvenie® Brand Ambassador in Canada. "In the case of The Balvenie® 'Fifty', Malt Master David Stewart has created a unique combination of natural alchemy and centuries old craftsmanship, and we are delighted to know that this expression will find a loving home here in Canada."
The whisky matured in cask 4567 has developed into a stunning example of the mysteries of maturation and Malt Master David Stewart's lifetime of dedication to his craft. 'Fifty' is an extremely rare release characterized by its reddish hues, dark fruits and spice with a deep and lingering fruity sweetness on the tongue.
Hand-filled at The Balvenie® distillery into hand-blown glass bottles, the 'Fifty' is the pinnacle of The Balvenie® range that has lain in European oak hogsheads since being filled on May 28th in 1963. Each bottle is delicately housed in handcrafted wooden cases that were made with forty-nine layers of wood and a closing layer in brass, which echoes the fittings of the distillery's stills and spirit safes.
In honour of this year's release, Elizabeth Havers, Brand Ambassador for The Balvenie® in Canada, will host a tasting class at the BC Liquor Store Cambie Location on January 13, 2016. And, for the whisky enthusiasts, Elizabeth will be hosting The Balvenie® Master Class at the Victoria Whisky Show on January 16.
