Hockey's Holy Grail Plans an Exclusive Stop at the Brooke Alvinston Community Centre

TORONTO, Dec. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - The Village of Alvinston ON is abuzz with the news that the Stanley Cup will be making a stop at their local community centre on Saturday, December 29th, 2012 as a part of the Hockey Hall Of Fame Tour, along with an auditorium filled with local and national hockey exhibitions, lots of interactive games and NHLTrophies such as the Conn Smythe, Richard, Hart and Lady Byng.

"If not for the NHL lockout, this would never have happened, all the stars are lining up for the 29th," explained Chad Hayter, organizer and member of the Alvinston Optimist Club, "The Stanley Cup rarely travels with the Hockey Hall Of Fame Outreach Tour, but with no games scheduled, we were able to secure it for the day!"

Hockey Hall of Fame spokesperson Izak Westgate states, "This is a really big event, in fact it's the first time in over 20 years that the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Stanley Cup have been together in the Region.'

The Hall Of Fame Tour will be making a timely stop in Alvinston, as the Atom Regional Silver Stick Tournament will be taking place on the ice at the same time. The event is free to the public and starting at 11am, fans will be able to view artifacts, trophies, play the Hall of Fame games such as the ever-popular Top Shot Electronic Net.  Teams, companies, friends, families and individuals will be able to get their pictures taken with the Cup, talk to Phil Pritchard "Keeper of the Cup" and see his exclusive "Tales with Stanley" slide show presentation at 2pm and 5pm with Hockey Hall of Fame movies playing continuously from 11 am to 8 pm in the auditorium.

There are 12 custom-designed Hall of Fame displays featuring teams and stars from towns like Strathroy, Sarnia and  Toronto.  Many big attraction artifacts will be there from such greats as Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr and Sidney Crosby, as well as Team Canada artifacts from the World Junior Championship, Olympics and Women's National Team to name a few!

Originally commissioned in 1892 by Lord Stanley of Preston for less than $50 US, the Stanley Cup is regarded in North America as the symbol of the ultimate accomplishment in professional hockey and has travelled the world as an ambassador and morale booster to fans everywhere.
