MONTREAL, Sept. 12, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are invited to the 7th edition of the PROCURE Walk of Courage. Launched in 2006, The Walk raises funds to support awareness, support and research into prostate cancer in Quebec. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 7 men in their lifetime. Over the last 6 years, The Walk has challenged Quebecers to join the force against prostate cancer.
Notable honorary Co-Presidents over the years have been: Pat Burns, Henri Richard, Yvon Cournoyer, Dickie Moore, Lino Saputo and Penelope McQuade. Present at the first walk, this year's Honorary President is Guy Lafleur.
PROCURE was established in 2003 by the late Marvyn Kussner in order to provide the Quebec population with information and support about prostate cancer. PROCURE quickly became a resource to men and their families for the first time in both French and English. Mr. Kussner also spearheaded The PROCURE BioBank, which has now become an internationally recognized resource in prostate cancer research. Proceeds from the walk go to supporting the initiatives of PROCURE.
