/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - "Point man" on Obama health reform to
address Economic Club of Canada/

TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, May 18, Dennis Rivera, Chair of SEIU Healthcare and one of the central players in US President Barack Obama's historic health reform, will address the Economic Club of Canada in Toronto.

Mr. Rivera, who the New York Times called "the point man" for President Obama's overhaul of the US healthcare system, has an inside view of what it took to secure the passage of this monumental legislation amid one of the most incendiary policy debates in recent history. His experience building broad coalitions of business leaders, community activists, healthcare providers and frontline healthcare workers in support of reform in the US offers salient lessons for Canada as we wrestle with rising health costs.

SEIU Healthcare is the health arm of the Service Employees International Union. The more than 2.2 million members of SEIU are a major political force, having played a critical role in the election of President Obama and passage of landmark US health legislation and now supporting positive change in Canada.
