TORONTO, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - Raising The Roof achieves its goals by creating high impact, community-based Toque Campaigns that fund grass-roots agencies working front-line in your community. The Toque Campaign in Toronto is our invitation to all Torontonians to come together and participate in solutions to youth homelessness by buying and wearing a $10 Raising the Roof toque.

In Toronto, the Toque Campaign proceeds will help fund Raising the Roof Partner Agency, Houselink Community Homes and Raising the Roof's national Youthworks initiative - aimed at helping to solve youth homelessness.

    WHAT:         It's Raising the Roof's annual Toque Tuesday fundraising -
                  and awareness raising - campaign. It is time to buy a
                  Raising the Roof Toque and help the homeless!

                  Toronto Goal: to place 1,500 toques on stylish heads in
                  Toronto - in one day!

    WHO:          Raising the Roof is Canada's only national charity
                  dedicated solely to finding long-term solutions for
                  homelessness. This national Toque Campaign raises funds and
                  awareness in the fight against homelessness in Canada.
                  Hundreds of volunteers from partner agencies, Virgin Mobile
                  Inc. (National Toque Partner) and the community will join
                  in to sell toques in Toronto.

    WHEN:         Toque Tuesday, February 2nd, during the morning commute,
                  7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and the journey home,
                  from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

    WHERE:        In the subway stations of downtown Toronto. Locations
                  include: Finch Station, Sheppard Station, Yonge & Bloor
                  Station, Yonge & King Station, Islington Station and
                  Kipling Station.

    INTERVIEW OP: From 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Yonge & King station,
                  with Sean Gadon, President of Raising the Roof; Nicole, a
                  previously homeless youth and a Raising the Roof youth
                  representative who challenges the stereotype of homeless
                  youth - Nathan Rosenberg, Chief Marketing Officer, Virgin
                  Mobile Canada Inc., National Lead Partner in the Toque
                  Campaign and community volunteers.
