MONTREAL, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History invites you to

Pointe-à-Callière's 18th-Century Public Market

Saturday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday August 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On place Royale and in the area around the Museum

A not-to-be-missed event in Old Montréal, Pointe-à-Callière's 18th-Century Public Market offers a unique weekend-long experience for anyone up for some fun at a festive marketplace featuring food, products, and presentations that provide a glimpse of daily life during the French Regime. The event takes place in Place Royale, the site of Montréal's very first public marketplace.

Authentic New France products
The vegetables, fruits, and other delicacies you'll find at the Market are those that were eaten in New France. Some of them were local products, while others were imported from France or the West Indies.

Meet with historical figures
Visit the inn and listen to the marketplace gossip. See the thief be put into the iron collar, and discuss with aristocrat Elisabeth Bégon. Come hear Ubert Sanspré tell his tale Le diable aux vaches, un conte de l'UPA.

You'll also meet craftspeople: admire the work and technique of the potter, the woodturner, the gardener, and the dowser... As for kids, they can dress up in the styles of New France, learn how to write with a quill, and take part in a parade with the recruiting sergeant.
