HAMILTON, ON, July 4, 2017 /CNW/ - The Blue Cross Animal Hospital – Canada's first purpose-built animal hospital – has completed a major renovation and expansion. Built in 1934 the sugar cube style building quickly earned a reputation for outstanding care by founder Dr. Jean Rumney - who was also one of the first female Veterinarians in Canada to graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario.

The rebuild program took several years of careful planning and design. "We wanted to honour the Clinic's long history to preserve the rich legacy and character," said Dr. Kate Lutchin who now operates the Hospital with her business partner Dr. Patty Haardeng . "We were able to expand and modernize the Hospital for the next generation of patients and also keep the history alive with the refreshed design."

The Hospital now has 6 treatment rooms, operating theatre and updated diagnostic equipment. "We feel strongly about bringing to our patients leading edge treatments and care so our patients can lead a happy and healthy life," said Dr. Haardeng. "The new and expanded hospital allows us to continue our service excellence and provides a warm environment for pet owners to bring their beloved pets for care," she said.
