MONTREAL, Sept. 11, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has unanimously named Russell Copeman, former Côte-des-Neiges/Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough mayor and former Member of the National Assembly for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, as their new Executive Director.
QESBA has been without an Executive Director for 17 months during which time the Board of Directors embarked upon an ambitious strategic planning process. "We felt the need to complete the strategic plan in order to fill the position of Executive Director with the right person, and we feel very confident that we did," said QESBA President Dan Lamoureux.
"Mr. Copeman has the experience and the knowledge to guide this association based on the goals the Board of Directors has established over the last year. He comes to QESBA with a vast knowledge of public policy and administration. The association will be able to grow and move forward under his leadership," continued the President.
"I am delighted to be joining the QESBA as Executive Director. Education has long been an interest of mine. As both a graduate of the English public education system and the parent of three children who attended English public schools, I know the importance of high quality English education. Our school boards are essential institutions for the English-speaking community and I am looking forward to working with the elected commissioners who make up the Board of the QESBA and its staff to ensure the best possible public education for our students," concluded Mr. Copeman.
QESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec and represents 100,000 students in 340 elementary, high schools, and adult and vocational centres across Québec.
