MONTREAL, Nov. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN) is currently seeking a dozen youths aged 18 to 29 to participate in a project to develop leadership skills among young English-speaking Quebecers.
The group of 12 young leaders, who will be selected from eight regions across Quebec, will meet for two days of skill building and leadership training. Topics will include youth engagement strategies, publicity and outreach, facilitation skills, introduction to community development and workshop planning and implementation.
The QCGN Youth Project, in collaboration with the Department of Canadian Heritage, aims to develop and enhance the leadership skills of 132 youth. The 12 leaders will work together to develop a custom workshop to teach community development and leadership skills to their peers. Among other issues, workshops will explore the issues of a sense of belonging, pride and identity of young Quebecers in their language minority communities.
The 12 young leaders will be coached by a Project Manager for the preparation of the workshop series. Each leader will then be required to deliver one workshop to ten youths in their region. The leadership training workshops are expected to take place early in 2010.
The QCGN encourages active community participation in helping select young leaders to take part in the project. If you or someone else you know would like to get involved either as a young leader or one of the regional participants please contact: Nina Kim at (514) 868-9044 ext. 221 or by email at email@example.com before December 7, 2009.
