PwC Canada launches Advancing Canada's Major Projects resource as the Canada Investment Summit puts nation-building on the world stage

New interactive resource helps investors, governments, and industry navigate Canada's US$4.7 trillion major projects opportunity -- from planning and financing to governance, regulatory execution and delivery

• PwC Canada has launched Advancing Canada's Major Projects, an interactive resource that maps some of the country's most significant major projects and shows where investment is flowing, where momentum is building, and how Canada's nation-building agenda is evolving.
• The launch is timed to Prime Minister Mark Carney's inaugural Canada Investment Summit (Toronto, September 14–15, 2026), which is anchored to a goal of catalyzing $1 trillion in total investment in Canada over the next five years.
• It builds on PwC Canada's report Mobilizing Canada's US$4.7T opportunity, which finds the country must shift from planning projects in silos to delivering them as connected systems to capture the full opportunity.

TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2026 /CNW/ -- As Prime Minister Mark Carney's first-ever Canada Investment Summit concludes in Toronto -- convening over 100 of the world's largest investors, who collectively manage more than $100 trillion in assets, to advance more than 165 nation-building projects -- PwC Canada today announced the launch of Advancing Canada's Major Projects, a new interactive resource designed to help organizations navigate complexity across the project lifecycle and turn nation-building ambitions into lasting value.

The Summit has placed a global spotlight on Canada's infrastructure supercycle, with the federal government positioning roughly $280 billion in public capital and incentives to help unlock $1 trillion in total investment across energy, critical minerals, transportation, advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure and defence.

The resource builds on PwC Canada's report Mobilizing Canada's US$4.7T opportunity, which projects Canada will need US$4.7 trillion in infrastructure investment by 2050. Despite ranking fourth globally in annual infrastructure spending at US$145 billion, Canada invests just 6.6% of GDP -- below the 7.4% invested by high-performing peers -- a gap that requires an additional US$34 billion a year by 2050. Defence infrastructure is projected to grow 389%, making it Canada's fastest-growing sector.

The report points to three shifts that can help Canada capture the opportunity: from isolated assets to integrated systems; from traditional funding to shared capital structures, including blended public-private investment and Indigenous economic participation; and from legacy delivery to workforce readiness.
