WINNIPEG, April 28 /CNW/ - Allstream has been selected by Public Works and Government Services Canada ("PWGSC") to manage a multi protocol label switching ("MPLS") network for Health Canada, the federal department that is committed to overseeing the health and wellness of Canadians from coast to coast. This is a three-year contract with the option to extend the contract for up to another four years.
"Health Canada's day-to-day operations and health programs are dependent on the availability and performance of its telecom network," said Dean Prevost, President, Allstream. "We're excited to have been selected among our competitors based on our track record of excellence and success. We have a long history of providing quality service to the federal government, and we look forward to building on that relationship through this new partnership with PWGSC to provide services to Health Canada."
Allstream's MPLS network will connect over 70 Health Canada sites across the country to its headquarters in Ottawa. It combines the flexibility and intelligence of IP routing with the transport quality of a single high performance network, providing a secure mode of transport for a defined set of users including employees, partners or customers. It also allows our customers to reduce infrastructure costs, improve business flexibility, and realize significantly higher return on their investment in the IP infrastructure.
