Public Service Announcement - Military paratroopers to train in Saint-Georges

VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Sept. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - About 40 soldiers of 3 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment (3 R22eR), will take part in a skydiving exercise in the municipality of Saint-Georges, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, on September 23, 2009. This training mainly aims at allowing troops to maintain, according to regulations, their skydiving qualifications.

This exercise will take place in a drop zone located above the Saint-Georges Airport. Activities will unfold at night using self-opening parachutes.

To reach their goal, paratroopers from 3 R22eR will rely on an aircrew from a Hercules CC-130 aircraft from 436 Transport Squadron, based in Trenton (Ont.). The Air Force crew will also benefit from this opportunity to maintain their qualifications for this particular type of flight.

Please note that this exercise is subject to cancellation or rescheduling should weather conditions adversely impact the flight and/or the ability to safely open parachutes.
