Press Conference - Local Hospital Cuts and McGuinty's Rural and Northern

On Tuesday November 3rd , the Ontario Health Coalition, municipal leaders, and community leaders will respond to the McGuinty government's newly-released Terms of Reference and process for its Rural and Northern Health Panel.

The Panel was formed in response to a protest at the Ontario Legislature on April 29 , involving thousands of residents who are facing local hospital cuts or closures.

After an almost three month delay, the Panel was formed on July 28, 2009 . The Terms of Reference and process for the Panel were finally made public on October 15, 2009 . According to the newly released information, there is no plan for public consultation until after the Panel has completed its report to the Health Minister; too late for many of the current cuts and closures.
